Andrei Kosogov, Member of the Supervisory Board of Directors of Alfa Group ConsortiumAndrei Kosogov is Chairman of the Board and the Investment Committee of Alfa Capital Partners. He also serves as Chairman of Alfa Bank's Investment Committee and Chairman of Alfa Asset Management.

Since November 2005 Andrei Kosogov is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa Asset Management and Altimo and since 2003 until 2007 he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of AlfaStrakhovanie. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank, Alfa Finance Holdings SA (oil and financial assets) and a member of the Supervisory Board of Kyivstar since July 2002. Since November 2005 he holds the position of  Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Alfa-Bank Ukraine.

Until May 2005 Mr. Kosogov was First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank and Director of Alfa-Bank's Investment banking division.

He started his career in banking in 1992 by responding to a newspaper ad. His first assignment with Alfa Group was to set up its investment and securities arm. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Alfa Capital - an investment company he established - until  its mergeer with Alfa Bank in 1998. Under Mr Kosogov's leadership, Alfa Capital became one of the most successful investment banks in Russia in the early post-Soviet period. In 1992-95 he was Chairman of Alfa Capital Investment Fund, a forerunner of the Bank's mutual fund.

Andrei Kosogov graduated from the Moscow Power Energy Institute in 1987.

He was born in Sillamaë, Estonia on 15 March 1961.

According to the Russian Forbes list published on March 8, 2007 his net worth is $ 1,1 billion.

Alfa Group, together with Access Industries/Renova, holds a 50% stake in TNK-BP, one of the largest vertically integrated Russian oil and gas companies (in terms of production). In 2006 it controlled daily output in excess of 1.7 million barrels of oil (excuding a 50% interest in Slavneft). TNK-BP operates five refineries in Russia and Ukraine and nearly 1,600 service stations across the two countries. 

The Group, through Altimo, has significant investment in cellular communications providers VimpelCom (traded on NYSE, symbol: VIP) and MegaFon as well as Kyivstar, a leading cellular provider in Ukraine. In addition, the Group, through Altimo invests into fixed-line and internet provider - Golden Telecom (traded on NASDAQ, symbol: GLDN). Also, the Group invests in Turkcell, a leading GSM operator in Turkey (traded on NYSE and Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB)).

The Group's other interests include X5 Retail Group N.V. (traded on LSE, symbol: FIVE), which holds  Pyaterochka, one of the largest discount grocery retailers in Russia in terms of sales, and Perekrestok , which runs a leading chain of supermarkets in Russia; CTC Media, Inc., one of the largest commercial television broadcasters in Russia (traded on NASDAQ, symbol: CTCM); and A1 , a leader in direct investment in the Russian, CIS and other emerging markets; and Russian Technologies, a company focusing on the development of promising technologies.
