Graduated from University of Cork in Ireland where he obtained a business degree, specialized in economics and marketing.
John O'Keeffe joined Diageo Ireland in 1994, where he spent 5 years in various marketing roles. Last 3 years of this assignment John was responsible for Guinness, the famous iconic beer brand in Ireland.
In 1999 he moved to Diageo Operations in Jamaica where Diageo owns a large brewery that produces Guinness, Red Stripe, and Heineken beer. During this 3-year period John occupied the position of Marketing Director for Red Stripe - one of the fastest growing imported beer brands in the US.
The next assignment received was Marketing Director of Diageo Nordics headquartering in Stockholm, Sweden (the cluster also includes Denmark, Norway, Finland & Iceland). One year later John O'Keeffe was appointed General Director for Sweden and Finland.
In 2005 he was appointed as European Marketing Director for Johnnie Walker whiskey brand based in Greece the largest Johnnie Walker market in Europe.
Since July 1, 2007 John O'Keeffe started his new assignment as Managing Director of Diageo Distribution in Russia.
Since May 1, 2009 John O'Keeffe moved to the position of Managing Director of Diageo Russia and Eastern Europe Hub.
